About BarTrakr
Every Mile. Every Bar. BarTrakr exists because long train rides and patchy signal don't mix, and nobody was mapping it along the actual tracks.
It started as a personal map of Verizon coverage on the Southwest Chief, built from public FCC and U.S. DOT data. The goal now is every Amtrak route and every major carrier. Riders should be able to pick a carrier, plan around dead zones and know what to expect before they board.
Principles
- Honest data. Every page cites its sources and release date and says plainly that coverage is modeled.
- No empty pages. A route is published only after it has been processed and checked.
- Works where it matters. Pages can be saved for offline use, because the point is being useful in a dead zone.
- Private by default. Live tracking runs on your device. Your location never leaves it.
BarTrakr is a Mile Marker 22 project. It is independent and not affiliated with Amtrak or any wireless carrier.
